There has been plenty of rumours about a VR headset being released for Xbox One, and when Xbox One X was revealed, Microsoft explained how well it handled VR. So what has happened? That is being answered in a report over at Cnet that says that Microsoft partnered with several developers to make this happen.
According to their sources, while it worked well from a technical standpoint, it did not compare favourably against Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, as it was more in line with PlayStation VR. Because of this, the plans have now been put on ice in wait for better technology. That likely means that there will never be any virtual reality for Xbox One or Xbox One X, but perhaps something could be possible on Microsoft's next hardware.
