Back in March, the Norwegian Film Institute announced that they will support Ravn Studio with two million Norwegian kroner to help them with the development of the Pinchcliffe Grand Prix remake (which itself was based on a very popular Norwegian film from the '70s). We all know that developing a game usually costs more than that, so the Norwegian developers are now asking for our help as well.

The crowdfunding campaign started on Startskuddet.no last Monday, and has at the time of writing reached 55,455 of its 2,200,000 Norwegian kroner flexible goal. A fairly impressive amount considering that it "only" has 93 backers right now.

Ravn isn't just planning to make the game prettier and 3D by using the Unreal 4 engine, but also include a few new mechanics and features. One example of this is focusing more on the racing. The remake will let us take part in more races around Pinchcliffe, while also modifying the Il Tempo Gigante with new parts that can be earned by winning races or found in the now more explorable environments.

Top this with the fact that the races will put us behind the wheel and the mini-games are now playable from new perspectives, and you might understand why this got the "less young" folks at the office excited. Just look at the images we got below.

Would you like to revisit Pinchcliffe on PC and Nintendo Switch next year?
