The Call of Duty series has been a huge success from the very beginning, and since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare it has been an absolute monster that easily sells more than 20 million copies each and every year. Some have thought that this run might end in 2018 as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is something of a gamble what with it having no single-player at all.

According to Analyst firm Piper Jaffray, which has released expected sales data for games this autumn, Activision shouldn't be worried at all. Instead, they expect the ditching of the solo story to be a move that helps the game take off and this calendar year alone they estimate it will sell 21.5 million copies. That is actually 3.3 million more than Call of Duty: WWII managed, which isn't too farfetched considering how popular the Black Ops series is and the fact that it's releasing a month earlier than what's standard for Call of Duty.

If this turns out to be an accurate prediction, it'll be a result that will surely make other developers think twice about whether it's worth adding expensive single-player campaigns for first-person shooters.

Are you going to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 4?
