Hori has just announced on Twitter that they are making a line of GameCube-looking controllers for the Switch. Each controller is inspired by a different Nintendo character, with designs themed around Mario, Zelda and Pikachu respectively.

The controllers connect to the Switch via USB, and will launch in Japan in October (although no release date has been confirmed for western gamers just yet).

Smash fans have long gravitated towards GameCube controllers as their collective preferred choice, and so the October release certainly makes sense. Will you be getting one (or all three) of these colourful devices ahead of the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December?
