It's been a while since we heard any news from Inxile Entertainment's The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep, but now the developer has not only launched the backer's beta (for those supporting the project via Kickstarter), but also revealed the release date of the PC version as September 18. The game is also heading to Mac and Linux, as well as PS4 and Xbox One later this year.
The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep is a return to the roots of the series with a "classic single-player, first-person, party-based role-playing adventure" that offers lots of exploration, puzzles, and combat. The game makes use of Unreal Engine 4 and photogrammetry technique to create a realistic fantasy world to explore. The music in the game has been composed by Ged Grimes (Simple Minds) and the soundtrack features Gaelic singing.
