Only 0.36% of players are Pirate Legends in Sea of Thieves

The numbers are even lower if you count those who don't make it out of port.

Becoming a pirate legend is, without a doubt, the dream of most sailors as they board a ship for the first time in Sea of Thieves. However, the numbers suggest that only a small number will make it to the top of the pile.

Thanks to calculations shared over on Reddit, we're able to get an idea as to the number of pirates who have gone on to become so-called legends. The numbers are based on the percentage of players who have managed to obtain the Pirate Legend achievement, in relation to how many people have set sail since the launch of the game.

Basically, 0.23% of people who've played the game have gone on to become pirate legends. That's out of roughly four million players, as announced by Rare during E3. That said, the redditor then goes on to only include those players who have earned the achievement for leaving port, which rather surprisingly is just shy of two-thirds, and of those players, 0.36% of players have gone on to become a pirate legend.

Whether you include all players, or just those that managed to leave their first outpost, becoming a pirate legend is obviously easier said than done. There'll be plenty of time for players to climb the rope ladder of success, however, and more content is on the way soon (more on that here).
