Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg's new take on the adventures of Indiana Jones will come later than expected. Disney officially delayed the release date of Indiana Jones 5 by a whole year, with the planned release now July 9, 2021, this according to Variety. This is actually the second time that Disney has pushed back the project. When it was first announced it was expected that it would hit cinemas in 2019.

Filming was supposed to begin in April 2019 in the UK, the official website revealed two weeks ago, but was delayed by months or even a year. At least both director and lead actor are still committed to the project. Indiana Jones 5 has got a new scriptwriter, however. Collider has confirmed that Solo: A Star Wars Story writer Jonathan Kasdam, son of Raiders of the Lost Ark writer Lawrence Kasdan, has signed up to replace David Koepp, as he moved on to become director of You Should Have Left.
