Nexon and EA have ended the development of their joint project, which was going to be a new spin-off entry in Respawn's sci-fi series called Titanfall Online. The game was planned to be a free-to-play shooter built using Titanfall code and launched exclusively for the Asian market.
The development of the game had been ongoing for three years, however, during that period the online market had shifted. That, along with uninspiring feedback after closed testing, contributed to the cancellation of the title.
"It is true that Nexon and EA have agreed to cancel Titanfall Online under a business decision," told a Nexon rep to Game Focus. "After much deliberation, it was decided that reallocating development resources to another project was better for the company."
This is the second Titanfall spin-off to be cancelled, with Titanfall: Frontline shut down last year.
