In the last few weeks a Reddit thread emerged talking about 'spyware' Red Shell, which tracks player behaviour in-game, and now VG247 reports that developers and publishers are now removing the software after a huge negative response to its use.
The games include Civilization VI, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Conan Exiles, and the issues people found with it revolve around the tracking of player details so that companies can measure the success of marketing campaigns, helping them to choose means of advertising.
We already know that ESO and Conan Exiles have removed it, and there are plenty others that have acknowledged the outcry, but it remains to be seen whether the continued criticism can get the feature removed from even more games.
What do you think of Red Shell?
