Lord British launches Shroud of the Avatar on Kickstarter

Ultima creator returns with a new RPG and looks for a million in crowdfunds.

Richard Garriott, or Lord British as he is perhaps better known as, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Shroud of the Avatar from his new studio Portalarium, Inc.

After his messy ending at NCsoft with Tabula Rasa, Richard Garriott seems to have taken a long hard look at his roots to create Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues - an old school RPG with an open world and few guides or requirements for the player to adhere to.

Launching today the campaign is off to a great start, but it has an ambitious target of $1,000,000 so it remains to be seen if it gets funded. Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues is target for release on PC, Mac, and Linux in October 2014.
