A while ago, LG sued Sony over a patent dispute related to the blu-ray technology and now a civic court in Hague has ordered custom officials to seize any shipments of PS3s that come in over the next 10 days, The Guardian reports. Effectively that means that Europe will not be getting any new machines during that time, which could lead to shortages - normally around 100 000 consoles are imported each week.
The battle between the two tech giants doesn't end here of course, as LG are trying to get the ban extended while Sony are trying to make it go away. The former is also trying to completely stop the sales of PS3s in the US, while Sony is trying to block LG from selling smartphones on the same market.
If LG wins, Sony will have to pay damages for each Playstation 3 sold, which according to the latest official numbers is closing in on 50 million.
