Pretty much every publisher and developer has either incorporated or talked about incorporating a Battle Royale mode in their games after PlayerUnknown's Battleground and Fortnite's incredible success, and it seems like it won't end anytime soon.

Now it's Against Gravity's turn to announce that Rec Room will get a new mode called Rec Royale on June 7. As if the name wasn't telling enough, the description of the mode makes it very clear where the developers have taken inspiration from. In it, 16 players parachutes into a national park and will have to scavenge the diverse environments for weapons and power-ups. Those of you who've played Rec Room probably agree that this wouldn't have been easy with the current game mechanics, so the mode comes with a new backpack system that makes it easier to store multiple weapons and power-ups, as well as swap between them on the fly.

Rec Royale will, just like the rest of Rec Room, support cross-play, so PC and PlayStation 4 players will get to fight against each other (squads might come later). Sounds interesting? Then it's worth noting that those of you with a a registered Rec Room account can try out the mode's public alpha from May 25 to May 27.
