Multiple game developers have reported that Valve has been asking them to remove sexual content from their games if they're to remain on Steam, with the company seeming to crack down on games containing certain kinds of adult content.
The games affected are mainly dating sims and visual novels. Developer HuniePot posted an email from Valve on Twitter, which stated that the studio's game "violates the rules & guidelines for pornographic content on Steam and will be removed from the store unless the game is updated to remove said content".
Another developer, Neko Works, posted that they "have been informed that adult content in Tropical Liquor must be censored by the end of this month, or the game will be removed from Steam." The HuniePot Twitter account then replied to that post by writing: "it's an anime titty holocaust."
There are more developers, such as Lupiesoft, that are upset by the notification from Valve, as they view their Ecchi games to only have been targetted "for their animé influenced art style, while Western games which are 100x more pornographic content escape unscathed".
It's unclear whether the developers of other games containing sexual content have been contacted with similar warnings, and if so to what extent. At the moment there are more questions than answers, and it'll be interesting to see what Valve does next in terms of clarifying its position on the matter.
