NES catches up to MMOs
Later today, Rift is opening up its doors for the people who have preordered the game. It's a modern MMO with fancy graphics and (as far as we've seen) good gameplay. And it's in 3D. But we all know, deep down, that MMOs are not about any of those things - or the social bonds and friends we make when we play them. It's about loot. Nice, gleaming loot that makes us look better than the nubs around us. At least that's the way things are now, compared to the Good Old Days.
