Unless you really know your retro games, the name Yuzo Koshiro probably doesn't ring a bell. Koshiro is, however, considered somewhat of a legend when it comes to video game music and has created soundtracks for games like Actraiser, Eye of the Beholder, Streets of Rage, The Revenge of Shinobi, and Ys - just to name a few.

Now Hi-Bit Studios, creator of the upcoming 198X, has announced on the game's Kickstarter page that Koshiro is returning to his roots and will deliver chiptunes inspired by 16-bit era titles. Those who are backing the game will have the option to get the soundtrack on vinyl.

Do you prefer chiptunes over more modern video game music?
