The Rocket League wheels keep on turning, and we've just found out via a new blog post what's ahead for summer as part of the team's roadmap, including some birthday celebrations.

Late this month, first of all, we'll be getting a content update that'll be bringing a brand new arena, the start of Competitive Season 8, the rewards for the previous Competitive Season, new in-game music (Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 3), and a lot more.

In June though there are more activities coming, one of these being a new, summer-themed in-game event. It's not all about in-game stuff though, as we're also getting the RLCS Season 5 World Championship finals in London, which should please esports fans. We also know that new licensed premium DLC is coming, topping off a pretty busy month.

Then as July rolls around we'll be getting into the birthday festivities, celebrating the anniversary of the vehicular mayhem with an in-game event and some throwback content, featuring content to earn throughout, which will be detailed at a later date.

That's not all though, as a "huge Feature Update" is also planned for late summer - somewhere in July or August - which will include Cross-Platform friends and parties, allowing you to add friends from other platforms.

What's more is that 'Progression 2.0' is coming too, changing how you progress in the game, which includes removing a level cap of 75 and rebalancing the progression curve, meaning that levels will take a fixed amount of XP instead of becoming longer as you level up. Players will also be converted to a new level appropriate to how long they've been playing, and leveling up will also grant an Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, or Import items, rather than these drops being random. You can even earn new titles and banners at Level 100, which will be great for those who want to show off a bit.

XP updates are coming as a part of this too, and XP is going to become online-only, being based on the time played in matches as well as the score. New XP mechanics are also coming too, featuring Match Completion Bonus; Consecutive Games Bonus (for staying in Casual lobbies); Party Bonus; Leaver Penalty; Double XP Weekends; and more.

And lastly we have what's called the Rocket Pass, which is a system of multiple Tiers of content you can earn, allowing you to increase your Tier by leveling up normally, unlocking more content as you go. These will last for a few months before a new one takes its place, featuring new content, like the Battle Pass in Fortnite.

This Pass will have free and Premium paths, with the former containing cosmetic items, decryptors, and in-games titles, which the latter only has a flat cost to unlock, with Premium content available to view before you invest. More details on the Pass will be shared soon, but it's still being developed.

What are you most excited for?
