There's a Fortnite Android phishing scam going around

Take care if one lands in your inbox.

Fortnite: Battle Royale smashed it when it landed on iOS devices earlier this year (you can read our review if you want to know more), and it's well documented that Epic also has plans for an Android version of the game. That being the case, some villainous opportunists have decided to try and get in front of the studio's launch schedule and have started inviting players to play the game on Android as part of a phishing scam.

As you can see in the image below, which was originally shared on Twitter before doing the rounds, it's a pretty convincing fake at first glance, although inaccuracies in the text and a less-than-convincing domain name were enough to flag it as part of an evil scheme. Here's what Epic's Nick Chester had to say on the matter:

"The email going around is an obvious phishing scam. Please reach out to us for clarifications before spreading misinformation," he wrote to one site which reported on the matter before it was identified as a scam. "The reason I'm coming down on this so hard is that people ARE falling for this scam and are getting their information compromised because of things like this. It's important people have correct information and are not misled."

Fortnite is proving rather popular at the moment, and Season 4 of Battle Royale recently kicked off, bringing with it new content and some game-changing environmental alterations. You can read more about that here.
