There's new controversy brewing with football legend and "Hand of God"-culprit Diego Armando Maradona, but this time he is upset with EA Sports and FIFA 18. As you may recall, last summer Maradona started a lawsuit against Konami about the rights on his image in Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, as he appears among the Legends of FC Barcelona, which is one of Konami's partners. The issue was solved with Maradona becoming a Pro Evolution Soccer spokesperson until 2020 in an agreement between Konami and the company that takes care of Maradona's image rights.
Speaking of FIFA 18, as reported by Eurosport (Italy), in a virtual match between Napoli and Juventus at Juventus Stadium, you can see a banner with Maradona's face on the Juventus side. Apparently, "Pibe de Oro" would not have taken this oversight very well as he played for Napoli team in the past (and never for Juventus), and in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss, Maradona said:
"Certain mistakes cannot be made, especially if you are a video game well known to the public, I have already instructed my lawyers to resolve the matter."
At the moment, Electronic Arts haven't commented on the matter, but we will obviously keep you updated.
