Rumours on new hardware from both Sony and Microsoft have been floating around for the past few months, and now Thurrott has reported that alleged sources of theirs have confirmed Microsoft is moving forward with new hardware, but that this is still several years away from release.

What's more is that they also claim that Microsoft is looking to hire someone who specialises in GDDR6 (a type of memory), and that they're looking to integrate game streaming into the next console, presumably as part of their long-term strategy with Game Pass, which if you need reminding will contain all first-party games moving forwards.

Talking more about this next console, Thurrott adds that they have heard that it's a realistic chance we'll get it in the next three years, as Microsoft are in no hurry to do away with the Xbox One X and it's increased power - understandable considering it already stands above anything Sony has in that department. This console will allegedly be both backwards and forwards compatible, and there are rumours Microsoft is building another iteration of the Xbox too.

Do you want to see these rumours become a reality?
