Gaikai CEO, David Perry, responsible for building the online infrastructure and social components of Playstation 4 took the stage following Andrew House and Mark Cerny at tonight's Playstation Meeting.

He promised us the fast gaming network in the world and a gaming network that put the gamer at the center of the experience. Focusing on what gamers wanted, the network is designed to understand your preferences - for example when a friend buys a game you'll know about it instantly and you will be able to try any PS4 game - thanks to Gaikai through whats essentially a streamed demo (no specifics on how this experience would be limited).

"Try it for free. Share it if you like it. And pay only if you love it," was the message conveyed by the Earthworm Jim creator.

The new PSN will "bring friends into games like never before" - it will tie social networks like Facebook and Ustream into the PSN experience - players will have the option of using their real name in addition to their alias.

Spectating is a feature that will be greatly improved with Playstation 4. The share button allows for immediate streaming to friends - and you will also be able to have friends comment or send text message while you play - perhaps to cheer you on, or more likely laugh at your failures. You can even let a friend play for you - if you're having problems clearing a level for instance.

You will also be able to stream your gaming on Ustream. Finally remote play is being built into the PS4 architecture - allowing gamers to play any PS4 content on your PS Vita out of the box. A killer app the PS Vita has been craving since it launched.

David Perry's Gaikai was sold to Sony last year and the streaming network architecture is now key to what PSN will be on PS4.
