When Riot Games announced that a majority of their stock had been bought by the Chinese online-giant Tencent, a lot of players were worried - even if Riot said that they had secured that they would still be in control of League of Legends and future game projects. The price tag is said to have been $350 million, which is quite alright for a small company started in 2006 and that launched their first game in 2009...

In an interview with VG247, Riot Games try to explain to their fans that Tencent will only be good for the company's future. "This only opens up more doors for Riot," company president Marc Merrill said. "Our vision remains absolutely the same and Tencent is giving us the independence to continue to pursue it. Our means to achieving that vision are expanded."
