Recently the debate about video games and their link to violence - especially gun violence - has resurfaced in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting last month, and a new report by Sky News has brought another shocking incident to light, this time involving two siblings in Mississippi.
The report states that a nine-year-old boy shot his sister in the back of the head after they had argued over the controller, with the brother shooting his sister after she allegedly refused to hand over a controller. There are no details available on how the child had access to the firearm, but the girl has since been named as Dijonae White, and she was rushed to hospital after the bullet entered her brain, where she later died.
The incident, which is still under investigation, has raised yet more concerns about the availability of guns in the US. Following recent mass shootings, certain policymakers in the US have been trying to link gun crime to video games, and given the circumstances surrounding this latest tragedy, it's entirely possible that the links between the two will continue to be made.
Our thoughts go out to White's family.
