Activision announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this evening via a brief welding session livestream that revealed the new logo with four stylised Roman one numerals. They also locked down the release date for October 12, which is an interesting move as it puts the launch well before previous Call of Duty titles that typically launched in the first week of November. The competition from the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Battlefield V (yet to be announced) could be a reason for the sooner than expected release.

A community reveal, where we expect to see the first proper gameplay is set for a May 17 livestream.

Brief gameplay clips hint at a rumoured near-future setting, while no platforms were confirmed it is a safe bet that the game will appear on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and a Switch version has been rumoured as well.
