It's been a few months since Quake Champions got its last major update, but we won't have to wait much longer before we get a new one.

Id Software has announced that Quake Champions is getting an update on March 15, and it'll include a few things that long-time fans might find very interesting. First of which is the return of Instagib mode. For those of you who don't know: Instagib is a mode where all weapons, armour, health kits and power-ups have been removed from the map, leaving us only with our starting weapons - the Gauntlet and Railgun - and abilities. Top this with the fact that this is a one-hit kill mode and there's no doubt that things will get very intense.

That's not the only inclusion old school players might appreciate either, as a new setting called "No Abilities' Mode" will be introduced. This will, as the name says, turn off all active Champion abilities. Then it makes sense that the option will only be available in custom games.

These aren't the only things coming with the update though. We're also getting 2v2 TDM Ranked Mode, which means that we'll get to grab a friend and test our skills against other duos around the world. We're also getting cosmetics to freshen things up a bit, so expect some colourful weapons, shaders, profile icons, nameplates and festive headwear, including a unicorn hat, bird's nest, and more.
