Sticking to tradition, the 90th Academy Awards was held last night in Hollywood hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and the big winner was director Guillermo del Toro and his latest film, The Shaper of Water, which managed to take home both Best Picture and Best Director. Elsewhere, Jordan Peele has made Oscar history by being the first writer of colour to win Best Original Screenplay with his horror movie, Get Out. Elsewhere Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049 scored a few technical awards, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri saw both Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell win actor awards as did Gary Oldman for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. Pixar won their customary animated award for Coco.
