The 27th Overwatch hero is Brigitte
Last night Blizzard announced that Brigitte is the 27th hero to join the ranks of the Overwatch which didn't come as a surprise if you may have been following the unfolding story.
For the reveal, Blizzard has, as usual, unveiled a short presentation video that tells the origins of Brigitte (see below). They also published a text that digs further into the lore and reveals details of the life of Brigitte, as well as those of Reinhardt and Torbjörn.
Brigitte Lindholm is a support type hero, she has a flail, the one that we see on the first artwork, and a shield, as seen in the second one. The latter is much smaller than Reinhardt's, in fact, it only protects her and her teammates if they stand behind her on one line. When activated, it can perform a charge that repels opponents and block certain abilities (such as Reinhardt's bash) and even some ultimates (like McCree's). She can easily protect herself in duels. Her weapon has a short range, barely longer than that of Reinhardt's hammer. The Whip Shot ability will throw the head of her weapon a fairly long range to repel opponents.
Like all good support characters (sorry Symmetra), Brigitte heals her allies. First, she can distribute her Repair Pack in the same way that Ana uses her Nanoboost. These disposable packs restore 150 health. If this treatment exceeds the max pv, your ally can gain up to 75 armour. Brigitte also has a very interesting passive ability. When she hits her enemies she gives some health to her closest teammates. It will be interesting to see her alongside Lucio, who has the same effect of zone, or Ana and her biotic grenade that will increase its effect. Her ultimate, Rally, creates an area around her that delivers up to 200 armour points to nearby allies and herself.
Here is the data we were able to record last night. Note that she is only playable on the PTR for the moment, and these stats could change once the character hits the live servers:
