The Pokémon Company has announced several initiatives to celebrate Pokémon Day, the annual celebration to commemorate the release of the original Pokémon Red/Blue in Japan on February 22, 1996.

Pikachu makes an appearance on "Amazon Alexa" so that you can communicate with the Electric-type mouse monster. Will you get a "pika" or a more excited "pika pika!" as a reply? Check out the Pikachu Talk skill on Amazon Alexa that's available in most countries now.

If you're using Snapchat you'll be pleased to learn that new Snapchat Lenses featuring the original starting monsters from the Kanto region will be introduced. Starting with Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are set to follow.

Pokémon Go celebrates the day in typical fashion with a special Pikachu wearing a striped purple hat. This Pikachu will know the move Present and gives triple Stardust when caught. You'll be able to catch this Pikachu until February 28, 9 am GMT.

Finally, and perhaps most interestingly (we'll let you be the judge of that), the latest Pokémon feature film, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, will be available on Pokémon TV. The movie will be available in the app (iOS and Android) and on Pokemon.com during the coming week.

Twenty-two years on, are you still trying to catch 'em all?
