Since 2016, Microsoft has graded the achievements players unlock when hitting certain milestones on Xbox One, and to keep it feeling special when a rare achievement pops you get a little jingle. However, as you might imagine, several different sound effects were tried out before they settled on the final one.

Fast forward a couple of years and during the weekend just past, Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has shared one example of a very early prototype for the Xbox One rare achievement sound effect on his Instagram page. We'd say it sounds a little more playful, but ultimately, Microsoft probably went with the right choice in the end. Which one do you prefer?

Speaking of Instagram, it's time for a shameless plug, because Gamereactor also has its own account, if you didn't know.
