If Game and HMV (and all of the independent retailers out there too numerous to mention) haven't got enough to worry about with the rise of digital sales, now a new contender has entered the ring and is looking to steal a share of the market.

That's right, UK-wide budget retail chain Poundland has started stocking cut-price video games. The company is being supplied by Music Magpie according to Games Industry, with the range included discounted older titles as well as more recent refurbished games. According to the same site Fallout: New Vegas and Destiny have both been spotted out in the wild.

Given the budget nature of the store, as you might expect the price of these games is being kept relatively low, with the maximum price people will pay said to be just £5. With competition already strong, it'll be interesting to see how Game and other retailers react to their new rival.

Yes, but can you pay in bottle caps?
