THQ Nordic has just invested a cool €121 Million in Koch Media, in the process taking control of the company, the Deep Silver label, and a number of big franchises. In terms of games, that means the publisher now has control of Dead Island, Saints Row, and the Metro series, as well as their existing IPs.

It's an interesting case, not least because it sees Darksiders, a property already owned by THQ Nordic following the bankruptcy of THQ, reunited with several of its former stablemates. THQ used to be one of the bigger players in the industry with some huge IPs, but after the company hit the rocks back in 2012 its studios and properties were scattered around the industry. Now, however, the company formerly known as Nordic Entertainment is looking to get the band back together, and many of THQ's best-known franchises are back together under the same label once again.

"Koch Media has a long history of profitability despite losses incurred from some less successful game releases," wrote THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors in a statement. "THQ Nordic is convinced that the development studios of Deep Silver as part of THQ Nordic will successfully deliver at least four ongoing AAA game projects including Metro Exodus as well as the next Volition Studio AAA release and the next Dambuster Studio AAA release, together with a number of other game development and publishing titles."

Metro, Saints Row, and Dead Island, all three are now owned by THQ Nordic.
