Recently, Capcom announced a round of layoffs at their Vancouver studio, which recently released Dead Rising 4, and the PS4 version Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package. Now, thanks to a new report over on Kotaku, we may have gained additional insight into just how many were fired, and how this will affect the studio going forward.
The report states that while the studio used to have around 250 employees, a source revealed that around 50 people were laid off as part of a larger reorganisation. The primary aim is to streamline the company, and allegedly, this has impacted development of the next Dead Rising game, which is said to have been too big, too ambitious.
Additionally, according to the report, the cut jobs means that another mystery project has been cancelled. The game was envisioned as a third-person action adventure set in an alternate New York City.
Capcom has yet to respond to the report.
