Obsidian Entertainment has certainly built a strong reputation over the years, and the studio has several iconic roleplaying games to its name. While the bulk of their resources is dedicated to finishing and releasing Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire in just a few months, we do know that the developer is working on another mystery project, one that's being published by Take-Two's new Private Division label. Thanks to a new trademark filing, we may know its name now.

A user called UrbaNebula on the official Obsidian forums has uncovered a recent trademark filing made by the company for "The Outer Worlds". The trademark is registered as a standard video game, board game and/or computer software.

There is a series of science fiction books called The Epherian Chronicles, where the first chapter is entitled The Outer Worlds. Then again, it's not exactly a name that so unique that there needs to be a connection. Of course, this could be something other than Obsidian's project for Private Division, as well, that project, headed up by Fallout co-creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, is not due for a while yet as it is slated for release in 2019 at the earliest.
