STFU and Play reports on a couple of rumours of racing games that supposedly are set to hit the next gen iterations of Playstation and Xbox.

According to the site, the recently founded Liverpool based Lucid Games, a team with some former Bizarre Creations and Criterion employees, are working on Project Gotham Racing 5 and the plan is to have it ready for the launch of Xbox 720 (or just Xbox as it will be called according to fresh rumours). There is a certain poetic ring to having a Project Gotham Racing title at launch as both the original Xbox and Xbox 360 had a PRG on launch day.

The other racing rumour had to do with Evolution Studios, best known for their work on the Motorstorm franchise, who have beefed up their team with former Blur lead designer Ged Talbot and several members of Studio Liverpool. Their game was supposedly being pitched as a Gran Turismo spin off (similar to what Forza Horizon is to the Forza series), that idea was nipped in the bud by Sony Japan, but the game is still an ambitious undertaking with sources telling STFU and Play it's "Europe's biggest racing game in a decade".

This game is said to be unveiled at the February 20 Playstation 4 event alongside a shooter from Guerrilla Games.
