With the advent of the full revelation of Playstation 4 in a couple of weeks, some inside knowledge was bound to make headlines.
According to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, the next Sony Playstation is set to be announced later this month (he's "100 percent certain" of this), and will be pack "processors capable of rendering games at 240 frames per second.'
"They'll be able to put a lot more characters on the screen and allow for hyperrealistic games," Pachter said according to the report on JapanTimes.
Hyperrealism. A relative term if there ever was one. But how about 240 frames per second? Most current gen titles struggled to achieve more than 30 frames per second, so that would indeed be an interesting aspect of PS4. But one has to wonder what kind of resolution we'd be looking at with 240 frames per second. Of course, what a console is capable of in theory may not be exactly what we're getting in the end...
