The last two generations of Nintendo consoles with Wii and Wii U have shown that Nintendo's somewhat weaker consoles are fairly easily emulated. Neither console was even retired before working emulators had been released on PC. Neither of them got one as fast as the Switch though.
Only ten months after the release of the console, Yuzu has now been announced on Twitter: "Announcing yuzu, the first Nintendo Switch emulator that does all of the things you didn't need it to do! Stay tuned for more from the yuzu team!"
This is the same team that did the fairly well-known Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra, so they have a solid reputation.
What are your thoughts on the emulation scene? A potential problem for game companies, or an important service to provide longterm options to maintain and archive older video games?
Thanks, PC Gamer.
