Media Molecule's Dreams has been under development for many, many years by now, and while fans have been waiting patiently for Media Molecule to execute on their grand vision for the game, they also are seemingly getting tired of the wait. Well, it seems that 2018 might finally be the year, but when the game releases, it does so without a fundamental part of its design - online multiplayer.
While creating things together might seem like an obvious fit, Media Molecule simply cannot get it ready for launch. This was revealed during an interview with GameSpot, where Studio Director, Siobhan Reddy, said the following:
"At the moment the number of players in Dreams is based on the number of controllers. There's not really any way of...online multiplayer will come after Day One. So we really haven't crossed that bridge [yet]. At the moment, the answer to a lot of these questions is, 'Where there is a will, there is often a way.' We learned that with LBP. We would be like, 'No, that can't be done.' And then someone would go do it, and you'd go, 'Oh, okay, that can be done!' So maybe people could do something interesting with passing the gamepad."
We're still awaiting details on the game's release date, as well as the release date of the upcoming beta.
