Even with increased competition from Xbox One X and the Nintendo Switch this holiday season, it would seem PS4 is on a steady course to become one of the few lucky consoles to register 100 million units sold.
Over the holiday season (about six weeks starting from Black Friday), Sony announced they sold through 5.9 million units, compared to last year's number 6.2 million. A slight decrease, but sales of software was up to a rather impressive 55.9 million (50.4 million last year). A total of 645 million games have been sold for PS4.
All in all, this means PlayStation 4 (including the Pro model) has sold through 73.6 million units since its introduction in November 2013. Sony also noted that PS Plus now has a record 31.5 million subscribers and last month was the highest grossing one ever on PlayStation Store.
What do you think it is that makes PlayStation 4 so successful?
