A remake of Resident Evil 2 had already been announced by Capcom, but it was so long ago that many of you might have forgotten about it. This updated version was later confirmed as a remake and not a remaster for PS4 and Xbox One, and was at the time very exciting news for fans of what many might argue was the most iconic episode in the series.
So why are we talking about it today? Well, simply put, because we may be about to get a release date for it. Maybe. Here's the evidence to support the theory:
The official Japanese Twitter account for Resident Evil (or Biohazard as it is known in that corner of the world) has recently changed its banner, and it now has a huge empty black space (top left of the image) sitting next to three recently released titles in the series.
The spot is just the right size to slip in a fourth title. Of course, nothing points specifically to the 1998 classic, except the fact that the game will celebrate its 20th anniversary on January 21st. Coincidence?
Do you think Resident Evil 2 is the best game of Capcom's horror saga, and will you pick up the remake if indeed it releases imminently?
