Nintendo has revised sales forecasts for their new console, Wii U, with the platform holder now predicting sales closer to 4m, rather than the 5.5m originally suggested. Predicted sales for the 3DS have also been slashed, with Nintendo predicting 15m units to sell, rather the original estimate of 17.5m. Both predictions are for the financial year ending March 31, 2013.
Nintendo also took the opportunity to confirm that so far their new console has shifted 3.06m units (1.32m in North America, 830k in Japan and 900k everywhere else), and sales for the 3DS are now nearing the 30m milestone (only 160k units to go).
Whilst the company are reporting a return to profit, they admit that the revised figures "reflect a lower-than-expected sales outlook based on the sales performance in the year-end sales season and afterwards."
