It has been something of a Hollywood truth, that movies with female leads, particularly action movies, don't do well at the box office. But maybe it's time to reassess things. As a matter of fact, the three biggest movies at the US box office in 2017 all starred women in lead roles, and biggest of them all was Star Wars: The Last Jedi which took in $533 million. In second place was Beauty and the Beast with $504 million and in third place Wonder Woman with $412 million.
What do you think? Is the gender of the lead character something you consider when deciding what movie to see?
Thanks, Screenrant.
