The PlayStation 4 Pro was met with strong reviews and consumer interest when it launched back in November 2016, but since then Sony has been relatively quiet about its performance on the market. Sure, small tidbits of information and sales data have been revealed, but it's still unknown whether Sony considers it a success.
Now we know, however, that the console has done quite well in Japan at least. New numbers from Media Create have revealed that the console has reached 500,000 units sold in Japan, which is pretty nice for a premium product, but ultimately represents a fraction of the combined market. It's just 8.85% of the total amount of PS4s sold, which is now 5,775,515 as of December 17.
That's way less than the "one in five" figure Sony has provided for other territories, so it's still unknown whether Sony might try for a similar tactic in the future. Did you expect these kinds of figures?
