Woody Harrelson (of Cheers, True Detective, and much more) is apparently joining the cast of the upcoming Venom film, and according to Variety's sources, the only detail leaked on the character Harrelson will play is that he'll be "a henchman of sorts".

If confirmed, Harrelson will join protagonist Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock/Venom) and previously-confirmed actress Michelle Williams. The feature film has been written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, and is going to be directed by Ruben Fleischer, so there's quite a few details already nailed down.

In related news, it was recently unveiled by Hardy himself that this new Spider-Man spinoff is being based on the "Lethal Protector" comic mini-series, in which the character's co-creator Todd McFarlane wasn't involved.

Venom will premiere early October 2018. Are you glad Harrelson is on board?
