During a recent Nintendo Direct held a few months ago, we found out that Game Freak is currently working on a new Pokémon game, the first in the series for the Nintendo Switch. At the moment we don't have very specific details about the game, but we've heard rumblings that it's an ambitious title, especially given its debut on Switch.

The launch of Pokémon Switch could be a major game-changer for the console's performance in terms of sales, and recently NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has predicted (via ResetEra) that Switch is "on pace to exceed Wii by 20%+ over the first 10 months of sales."

He also added that "if Pokémon comes next year I can easily see Switch outpacing Wii and taking 40+ share of the hardware market next year. But it does depend on if Pokémon is next year or not."

In any case, the Switch is selling very well and has already managed to outperform 20% of sales made by Wii in the first 10 months since launch. We hope Nintendo and Game Freak offer more details in the future on this new highly-anticipated Pokémon game that will undoubtedly represent the turning point for the franchise.

What are your expectations for the next Pokémon game?

Thanks, DualShocker.
