From the trailers we've seen so far, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is looking like a dark film, some of which revolves around Luke Skywalker. Speaking of which, there's a lot of speculation about Luke flipping to the Dark side of the Force in the new film, and Mark Hamill answered a question on this very topic in a recent chat with Dinsey Insider magazine. As a warning, don't read ahead if you want the film totally fresh for you when it releases.

Hamill explained that he needed to learn about the past of the character, so "I had to glean decades of backstory from the script", and he spoke with the film's writer and director Rian Johnson to find out what's going on with Luke.

"Actually, I don't think Luke's fundamental personality has changed, except that he is older and his life experiences have shaped his outlook the same way they do for all of us," he explained.

"In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Luke has lost confidence in this ability to make good choices. It haunts him to the core. But he hasn't gone to the dark side. This isn't an evil version of him. But it's still an incarnation of the character I never expected."

What do you expect from Hamill's performance after so many years?
