1080p and 4K TVs seem to be the options that everyone's talking about right now, but a lot of gamers prefers monitors, where a common alternative is 1440p. Microsoft hasn't been clear about how this would be handled and it has been assumed that it would be the supersampled 1080p resolution for those players as well, which is less than optimal.

But fear not, as late last night Corporate Vice President and Xbox Software Engineering at Microsoft Kevin Gammill‏ tweeted the following as an answer to a question about this matter: "On X, we will effectively output native over HDMI in this case at 1440p."

Of course this is a much better option, which surely will be appreciated by people with 1440p monitors if they plan on using it with the Xbox One X when it launches on Tuesday. Do you prefer gaming with a 1440p monitor?
