Yesterday marked the start of production for the Venom film, one that sees Tom Hardy give in to the vicious parasite in a project that's being described by Sony as "Cronenberg-style horror movie".

But how will Venom be portrayed throughout the film? Well, digital actor Andy Serkis, who has brought Gollum and King Kong to life and has been at the forefront of the technological advances, says that it will happen via performance capture.

Serkis let the news slip via an interview with Yahoo, where he said: "Acting is acting, and the more actors - like Steve Zahn... and Karin Konoval who plays Maurice in War For The Planet of the Apes - the more A-list actors that come on board, like Mark Rylance playing The BFG, or a lot of actors in the new Marvel films... Tom Hardy is playing a new character using performance capture,"

We still have a while to wait for the Venom film, but are you excited for it?
