Discord has now launched verified servers, and a new blog post explains exactly what they are and what this means.
"We've heard from players and game developers alike that they would love to easily indicate where to get official news, support, or dialogue for their favorite game on Discord — so we built a way for players to see which servers are verified by Discord and the developers themselves. Super-fans know they are in the right place by spotting the checkbox in the game server profile," the post explains.
Game developers have a variety of advantages with verified servers, like custom branding for discord.gg links for example, and to apply there's a checklist of criteria you need to meet. Your server needs to be owned and managed by a publisher and/or developer, firstly, and then you need to be prepared to implement server requirements and follow Discord's community guidelines and terms of service.
More information can be found on the blog post, and you can try to verify your server here. Do you like the sound of this idea?
