The beta for Star Wars Battlefront II is currently underway, allowing players to dive into the upcoming shooter from EA, but some have expressed concerns about the microtransactions in the game, and how they'll affect the full game upon release.

One such report is from GameRevolution, who have pointed out that the crates in the game (essentially loot boxes), reward players with Star Cards, credits, and items for crafting. In other words, these affect gameplay, unlike loot boxes in other games like Overwatch that only contain cosmetic items.

This is mainly due to the Star Cards, which grant you in-game ablities, and these can be better if they're rarer. On top of this, as you may have guessed, you can also buy these with real money, increasing the chance of getting better cards.

You can't buy them with real money in the beta, and considering it's not gone on that long it's unclear how much Star Cards can affect the game, but it's a little concerning to see gameplay-affecting items available for those who shell out more money. Are you worried about this?
