Big changes are coming to the PS4 with the new firmware update 5.00, already available to download in Europe, which comes with a lot of new features, from Twitch broadcasting at 1080p and 60 FPS to virtual surround audio quality for the PSVR video player and family management of accounts.

Most of this was previously announced and also detailed in August, and beta testers have been helping tweak every feature, but there's also something new, as explained on the PlayStation Blog. This is a new Events tab, which gives the option to"join or create a team of players to squad up and play together online in selected team-based multiplayer games". At this moment, those games are only Uncharted 4 and Mantis Burn Racing, but this should expand in time.

There's a limit of 100 members for every team, and also a limit for the players themselves, as they can only join up to 60 different teams. You can register your team for any upcoming tournaments and individual members have a tool to communicate in private chats.

Below is a list with the new features included with the update 5.00. Is this one of the most appealing updates yet?

• Team Tournaments
• Parental control improvements for families on PSN
• Family management
• Follow Anyone
• Friend list management
• Twitch 1080p broadcasting
• Message improvements
• Notifications updates
• Quick Menu updates
• Music player improvements
• Virtual surround sound for PS VR when watching DVDs and Blu-Rays
• Updated language support
