Until now we didn't know much about the Ataribox, but today's press release tells us a little bit more, as well as showing us some more pictures of the console, which marks a return to the console market for the legendary company.

Concerning its performance, the Ataribox will be powered by an AMD chip (Radeon Technology), with an OS under Linux (meaning it will be customisable). The interface should be "easy to use", according to the press release, and will be "not only a gaming machine, but also a" box "for everything, as it will also offer streaming, applications, social networking, the modernised internet, music and more".

"Tons" of Atari games will also be preinstalled, with the possibility of seeing other games as well, although we don't have further details on that yet. Lastly, we also know a crowdfunding campaign will be launching on Indiegogo this autumn for a commercial release expected in the spring of 2018 at a price between $249 and $299 USD (between £186.15 and £223.53).

Do you think it can find its place in today's gaming landscape?
